Dates

Start: June 22nd, 2026 - End - Aug 14th, 2026  (8 weeks)

Hours Per Week - As this is an overnight camp experience, you are going to have an unpredictable schedule.  Always on duty.  But we're going to try to give you Friday afternoon through Sunday noon off each week (fingers' crossed).  Please provide us with some flexibility and accommodation in this role.

Salary

$800 - $1,000 / Week (dependent on experience)

Meals & Lodging

Meals and lodging are included, and the Camp Program Coordinator is expected to sleep on site each week

Disconnect to connect

At Whitney, we take pride in being a tech-free experience for all involved; campers and staff.  Our leaders trade screens for meaningful relationships, real conversations, and busy routines for purposeful days.

While on duty, all employees of Camp Whitney are expected to refrain from accessing personal tech (cell phone / tablet, laptop, etc.).  If it becomes necessary (work-related, family emergency, etc.), we request that it is done as discreetly as possible.  The campers and other counselors will not be using their devices, so this sets a good example for everybody at camp.

We hire great people to mentor, lead, and grow alongside campers, building community, confidence, and unforgettable experiences without digital distractions.

Responsibilities

You are the creative mind behind all of the daily itineraries at Camp Whitney - as well as the Family Camp.  You will lead the entire Counsellor team and be an important cog in the 'Team Coordinator' wheel.  You are all about F-U-N and inspiration!

What interesting things can we do at meal times?  Will we continue with old CW traditions?  Flag up - Flag down.  God Chat at the outdoor sanctuary.  Songs to sing throughout the days.  Bells, horns or hollering!  What will we do around our campfires?  Will we tackle any day hikes with packed lunches?  How will we incorporate prayer and faith into the daily plan?  What shenanigans will you coordinate with our Waterfront Coordinator at the beach and in the Lake?  Can we build some birdhouses for our feathery friends around the property?  How about some weekly murals?  Quiet cabin time?  How much time for sports and games?  Maybe some archery?  Will the bouncy castle and water tower be used everyday?  How about capture the flag and some unnerving NIGHT GAMES?

The considerations are endless... keeping camper's busy is the key.  Long days lead to well-slept nights and eager anticipation of tomorrow's agenda.  Many more smiles.

The where's, the when's and the how's... all answers coming from you and your team.  Making memories that last a lifetime.

Working directly with the Board of Directors, and specifically with our Interim Programming Director, you will plan and lead all ages of this year's summer camps, to ensure activities are appropriate for the age, maturity, and interest of the campers each week.  The Camp Program Coordinator is expected to lead the volunteers, Board members and other camp counsellor staff to ensure Camp Whitney programs and facilities comply with the standards of the Alberta Camping Association and the United Church of Canada.

... and on top of all that - we hope you are musically-inclined!  Guitar player, singer, flute, harmonica, TRUMPETTER?  Anything!
