Elk Point, Alberta
Maintenance & Grounds Coordinator

Keep our Camp in Tip Top Shape!
Are you the hands-on hero 18 to 30 years of age (or a senior / retiree) who can fix anything? We’re looking for a Maintenance & Grounds Coordinator to keep our cabins cozy, our grounds gorgeous, and our camp running like a well-oiled machine. From plumbing and electrical to carpentry and grounds maintenance, if you’ve got the skills - we’ve got the perfect place for you to shine. Come join a team, where every day is a new adventure and your work keeps the campfire burning bright!
Dates
Start: June 8th, 2026 - End - TBA (dependent on Rental Bookings)
Hours Per Week - You are going to be busy, as 'things' will inevitably come up, but we're going to try to give you Saturdays and Sundays off each week (whenever possible). We're asking for flexibility in this role please.
Salary
$800 - $1,000 / Week (dependent on experience)
Note: Candidates with specialized / applicable Trade tickets could receive a higher wage, if these skills are deemed beneficial to Camp Operations.
Meals & Lodging
This position will require candidates to "live" on site. Full service RV parking is included in your contract if the candidate wishes to stay in private accommodations during his/her tenure. Otherwise, accommodation options can be discussed upon hiring - we do currently have a vacant cabin on the premises, or you could stay in an available bunkhouse room.
Full complimentary meals will be available during our anticipated six weeks of summer camps (end of June, July and early August). A grocery stipend of $150 / week, and the complimentary use of the Hall Kitchen to prepare meals will be available for remaining weeks of the contract.
Disconnect to Connect
At Whitney, we take pride in being a tech-free experience for all involved; campers and staff. Our leaders trade screens for meaningful relationships, real conversations, and busy routines for purposeful days.
While on duty, all employees of Camp Whitney are expected to refrain from accessing personal tech (cell phone / tablet, laptop, etc.). If it becomes necessary (work-related, family emergency, etc.), we request that it is done as discreetly as possible. The campers and other counselors will not be using their devices, so this sets a good example for everybody at camp.
We hire great people to mentor, lead, and grow alongside campers, building community, confidence, and unforgettable experiences without digital distractions.
Responsibilities
You will be the first contact point for most Camp solutions. People will routinely seek you out to solve their challenge! Prioritize and sometimes delegate.
Self-motivation, excellent time management skills and strong project planning capability are critical in this role. The ability to create and prioritize daily / weekly task lists and see to their completion while limiting distractions, but always being approachable to campers and other staff is essential for success in this position.
You will communicate regularly with the Director of Maintenance and Operations (Board Member) regarding larger Camp projects / needs, rentals and important Camp milestones. You will work as part of a senior leadership team with the two other Coordinators in the general operation of the camp. You may also be asked to supervise other maintenance workers, senior staff or volunteers in completion of major tasks.
You will provide operational leadership for all camp buildings, all camp equipment, all outdoor forest and green spaces, roadways, and camping spaces. You will support the beachfront operations under the guidance of the Waterfront Coordinator.
You will perform weekly duties like (but not limited to) mowing and trimming, planting and maintaining all flower beds, cutting and stacking firewood, brush removal, maintaining and repairing equipment and structures, general facility cleaning, ordering and sometimes picking-up supplies, tools and equipment, and inventory management. You will organize all camp equipment facilities (maintenance shop, storage rooms, etc.) and ensure that equipment is 'ready for use' at all times.
You will be an important member of our Safety Team - acting as our Lead Hand in emergency and evacuation situations. You will provide direct supervision of all private rentals when normal camps are not operating. You will lead "End of Camp" cabin, washroom, shower rooms, and dining hall cleaning duties. You will coordinate (with Board) the fall clean-up process prior to season shutdown.
Create a Camp Whitney grounds presentation and cleanliness standard of excellence.
